Warwick Rhode Island – November 27, 1928
On the afternoon of November 27, 1928, a biplane with a lone pilot aboard was flying over the area of Pothier Field trailing a “Talbot For Mayor” banner when for reasons unexplained by the press, the plane “plunged earthward from a considerable altitude” where it then swooped and hit a tree before crashing onto the airfield. Although the plane was damaged, the pilot, who was not identified, was reportedly not injured. Ownership of the aircraft also seemed to be in question.
