Coventry, Rhode Island – January 9, 1955

     On January 9, 1955, a 35-year-old pilot was flying a small airplane over the Coventry area when the engine failed.  He attempted an emergency landing at the Coventry Air Park but was unable to reach it.  The plane came down striking a power line and a chicken coop before crashing into the ground.  The plane was severely damaged but the pilot was not injured.

Coventry, Rhode Island – August 2, 1951

     On August 2, 1951, a lone pilot was taking off in a Piper Cub airplane from the Coventry Air Park.  Just after becoming airborne the engine failed and the plane crash-landed tearing off the landing gear and damaging the propeller.  The pilot was not injured. 

     The Coventry Air Park no longer exists.
