Coventry, Rhode Island – August 2, 1951

On August 2, 1951, a lone pilot was taking off in a Piper Cub airplane from the Coventry Air Park.  Just after becoming airborne the engine failed and the plane crash-landed tearing off the landing gear and damaging the propeller.  The pilot was not injured.

The Coventry Air Park no longer exists.
