Woonsocket, Rhode Island – September 8, 1940
On September 8, 1940, a lone 36-year-old pilot was attempting to take off in a small plane at the Woonsocket Airport. Just after becoming airborne the plane crashed in an adjoining cornfield, crumpling a wing and ripping apart the fuselage. The pilot received minor injuries. The cause of the accident was not stated in the press.
