Winterport, ME. – April 4, 1965

Winterport, Maine – April 4, 1965

     On April 4, 1965, a 39-year-old pilot took off from the Winterport Airport in a single-engine Fairchild airplane.  Shortly afterwards the plane stalled and crashed in a wooded area near Route 69.  The pilot was not injured.

Winterport, Maine – September 26, 1954

     On September 26, 1954, a 45-year-old pilot and a 16-year-old passenger were taking off from the Winterport Airport in a Piper airplane.  Just after becoming airborne the plane was seen to fall and crash at the end of the runway.  The pilot was killed, and the passenger was transported to Eastern Maine General Hospital where he was admitted with serious injuries.
