Windham, Connecticut – June 26, 1980

On June 26, 1980, a single-engine Stinson 108 aircraft with two men aboard was passing over Windham when the engine lost all power.  The pilot was forced to make an emergency landing on the ninth fairway of the Willimantic Country Club.  Several golfers were in the vicinity as the aircraft skidded along the ground before crashing into a grove of trees and coming to rest upside-down.  The airplane suffered extensive damage, and the pilot and his passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and were transported to Windham Community Memorial Hospital for treatment.   Nobody on the ground was injured.
