Attleboro, Massachusetts – May 16, 1952

On the afternoon of May 16, 1952, a 30-year-old pilot took off from Wilkins Airport in North Attleboro for a routine flight.  Not long after take off the plane developed engine trouble and the pilot was forced to land in a newly plowed field about a quarter of a mile to the rear of a home at 739 North Main Street.  Upon landing in the soft earth the plane nosed over and came to rest on its back.  The aircraft was damaged, but the pilot was not injured.
