Portland, Maine – February 23, 1953
On the morning of February 23, 1953, a light aircraft with four people aboard was making a landing approach at the Portland municipal Airport when it overshot the runway and went over a fifty foot embankment. The plane was badly damaged and all four persons aboard received non-life-threatening injuries. They were transported to Maine General Hospital.
The plane was part of a flight of 20 aircraft that had taken off from the Beverly Airport in Massachusetts for a “breakfast flight’ to Portland.
