Prudence Island, Portsmouth, Rhode Island

     On April 9, 1964, two men rented a small aircraft at Hillsgrove Airport in Warwick to fly to Prudence Island.  Prudence Island is located in Narragansett Bay and is part of the town of Portsmouth, R. I.

     The purpose of the flight was to land at the Narragansett Boys Town Ranch Camp and inspect the damage done to one of the buildings when it caught fire about a week earlier.  As the plane was landing at the ranch it was caught in a cross-wind and pushed into a tree.  The aircraft was damaged but neither of the men abaord were injured.
