New Salem, Massachusetts – August 28, 1977
Shortly before noon on August 28, 1977, a Noorduyn UC-64A Norseman airplane, (Reg. No. N69795), took off from the municipal airport in Orange, Massachusetts, with a pilot and nine skydivers aboard. Shortly after takeoff the plane lost all power and crashed in a wooded area in the neighboring town of New Salem. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair.
