Woodstock, CT. – January 31, 1962

Woodstock, Connecticut – January 31, 1962

At 8:00 a.m. on the morning of January 31, 1962, a twin-engine airplane with five people aboard took off from Bedford, Massachusetts, bound for Florida.   Besides the 49-year-old pilot was a husband and wife and their two children.  About 45 minutes later the aircraft developed engine trouble and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing.  The plane crashed landed in a field about 100 yards from Rt. 169 where it struck a stone wall.  The temperature was zero degrees with strong winds blowing at the time.

All aboard were injured, two seriously, and were transported to nearby Day Kimball Hospital.  None of the injuries were life threatening.
