Westover Air Force Base – January 19, 1963
On January 19, 1961, a C-97 Stratocruiser with twelve men aboard was making its take-off run for a routine training flight when the front landing gear collapsed and sent the aircraft into a snowbank where it burst into flames. Fortunately all about got out safely, with six men suffering minor non-life-threatening burns.
