West Salisbury, N. H. – January 1, 1997

West Salisbury, New Hampshire – January 1, 1997

On New Years Day, 1997, a man from Londonderry, N. H., took off from Manchester Airport in a 1946 single-engine aircraft for a routine flight.  While passing over the area of West Salisbury at 5,000 feet, the engine suddenly stopped, and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in a small open field in West Salisbury.  The aircraft was damaged but the pilot wasn’t injured. The pilot speculated that the cause was icing of the fuel lines.

The pilot had survived an earlier crash in 1984 when his plane lost power on take-off from the Windham Airport.
