West Greenwich, Rhode Island – May 7, 1966
At 4 p.m. on the afternoon of May 7, 1966, a husband and wife took off from Green State Airport in Warwick, R. I., in a single-engine, 5 seat, Beechcraft Bonanza airplane. Not long after take off the husband radioed that there was a problem with the propeller and they he’d be returning to the airport. The problem grew worse and he was forced down into a wooded area of West Greenwich between Rt. 95 and Division Street. Both occupants suffered non-life-threatenng injuries. The aircraft was removed from the woods and brought to Green Airport to be studied by investigators as to the cause of the accident.
