Uxbridge, MA. – August 28, 1942

Uxbridge, Massachusetts – August 28, 1942

On the evening of August 28, 1942, what was described as a small Army reconnaissance plane with two officers aboard was passing over the Uxbridge area.  The pilot was ferrying the other officer to an unnamed location.  As they were doing so the plane ran out of gas and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing at Taft Field off Rivulet Street in Uxbridge.

By the time the men had secured gasoline, it was too dark to take off.  The servicemen stayed at the home of a resident and took off the following morning.
