Squantum, Massachusetts – May 16, 1929
On May 16, 1929, A pilot instructor and a student took off from Dennison Airport in Quincy, Massachusetts, for an instructional flight over the water. While at an altitude of 4,000 feet the instructor put the plane into a spin and demonstrated how to safely pull out of it. He then allowed the student to try, at which time the student “froze” at the controls and the plane crashed into the water.
The instructor was rescued but the student perished.
