Springfield, Vermont – October 12, 1930

     On October 12, 1930, a small plane with a pilot and two passengers was taking off from the Springfield Airport.  As the plane became airborne the engine quit.  The plane dove nose first into the ground from an altitude of 100 feet.  The 22-year-old pilot and his 17-year-old passenger were critically injured, the other passenger suffered a broken leg.  All were transported to Springfield Hospital. 

     The type of airplane was not stated in the press.
