Revere, MA. – June 5, 1936

Revere, Massachusetts – June 5, 1936

On June 5, 1936, a small biplane belonging to the Revere Flying Club was being piloted by a 21-year-old flier in training for the Portuguese air force.  Accompanying him was his 21-year-old girlfriend.

According to some witnesses, the left wing of the plane suddenly fell away just as two U. S. Army aircraft in close formation flew above it.  Other witnesses stated the wing collapsed as the pilot was “stunting” with the plane.  In either case, the wing was found a half-mile from where the plane crashed.

The plane came down in the Revere mud flats with the nose buried deep in the mud.  Both occupants perished.
