At 3:25 p.m. on August 25, 1943, and F4F Wildcat, (Bu. No. 12187), was landing on runway 34 at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station when the tail wheel broke causing the aircraft to ground loop off the runway. The pilot was not injured.
