On January 10, 1944, it was reported in the New York Times that a group of young women attending Pembroke College at Brown University (In Providence, Rhode Island) had organized an aviation club consisting of over forty students. The founder was Elizabeth Moore of Hopewell Junction, N.Y. It was further reported that the new club was believed the first of its kind at a women’s college.
