North Stonington, Connecticut – September 2, 1978
On the evening of September 3, 1978, a Piper Pacer, with a pilot and two passengers aboard, was landing at a private airport located on an 800 acre farm on Cossaduck Hill Road, (aka Rt. 201), when the airplane overshot the runway and struck a tree. The impact pushed the tree over into the roadway while the airplane continued across the road and crashed into a stone wall and flipped over on its roof. Both passengers were slightly injured. The aircraft suffered heavy damage.
