Norfolk, Massachusetts – January 31, 1976
At about 1:00 p.m. on January 31, 1976, a single-engine aircraft with two men aboard was taking off from Norfolk Airport when the engine began losing power. The pilot attempted to circle back to land when the engine failed completely while the plane was at tree-top level. It crashed into a row of parked aircraft, damaging three airplanes. Although there was a leakage of fuel, there was no fire. The pilot and his passenger were transported to Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick for treatment. No one on the ground was injured.
