New Haven, CT. – November 14, 1954

New Haven, Connecticut – November 14, 1954

On the afternoon of November 14, 1954, two young men climbed into a Taylorcraft single-engine airplane, (Reg. No. N60305), without permission of the owner and started the engine.  The men were 19 and 20 years old, and the 19-year-old held a student pilot’s license.  After starting the engine, the plane roared off down the runway.  Strong gusty winds were blowing at the time and just after becoming airborne the plane nosed over and dove into the ground killed both occupants.
