Nantucket, Massachusetts – August 10, 1939
On August 10, 1939, a 35-year-old pilot and his 22-year-old passenger were flying just off the Nantucket shore when beachgoers saw their plane suddenly dive into Nantucket Sound. Both pilot and passenger perished.
The type of aircraft was not stated in the press.
