Marblehead, MA. – April 5, 1930

Marblehead, Massachusetts – April 5, 1930

On April 5, 1930, two men took off in a small plane from Boston Airport and flew towards the northeast out over the Marblehead area.  While over the water of Marblehead Harbor the engine suddenly failed, and the pilot began gliding the plane towards an emergency water landing.  Just before impact, both occupants jumped from the plane and found themselves in the water. Fortunately the were rescued shortly afterwards by a man in a passing motorboat.  Both were transported to the Mary A. Alley Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
