Hampstead, New Hampshire – April 2, 1982
On April 2, 1982, a 63-year-old pilot took off from Haverhill, Massachusetts, in a Cessna Skyhawk 2, bound for Hampstead. While over Hampstead, he flew low and circled over the home of a friend who lived on Birchwood Drive, waving from the cockpit. Then, without warning, the plane crashed into a wooded area several hundred yards away. The pilot was found dead at the scene.
