Gardner, Massachusetts – October 17, 1948
On October 17, 1948, a single-engine plane was wrecked when it crashed into a stone wall in Gardner while making an emergency landing. The 26-year-old pilot and his 12-year-old passenger were critically injured and transported to Heywood Hospital. The pair had left Beverly Airport to attend a pilot’s breakfast in Athol when the accident occurred.
