Florida, Massachusetts – December 12, 1948
On December 12, 1948, a lone 30-year-old pilot took off in a small plane from Boston bound for Harriman Airport in North Adams, Massachusetts. When he was within six miles of his destination he crashed in a field near the top of the Mohawk Trail in Florida. The plane, which belonged to the Mohawk Valley Aviation Company was wrecked and the pilot was critically injured.
