Dixmont, Maine – January 15, 1949
On January 15, 1949, two men were in a small airplane heading from Oakland, Maine, to Doan’s Airport in South Brewer, Maine, when the engine failed. The plane spun into a hillside field in the East Dixmont section of Dixmont. The 31-year-old pilot was killed, but his 20-year-old passenger escaped injury.
