Cumberland, Maine – January 10, 1948
On January 10, 1948, a lone 29-year-old pilot was flying a small airplane over the Cumberland area when he crashed into some thick woods. The plane came to rest in the upper branches of some trees, 3o feet from the ground, and the pilot was not injured. However, as the pilot was climbing down, a branch broke, and he fell breaking his hip.
