Canaan, Connecticut – June 28, 1947

     On June 28, 1947, two men took off in a four-passenger plane from Canaan Airport.  Shortly after take off the engine began to loose power, and the plane crashed into a one-story bungalow home where a mother and her three sons were having lunch.  The plane smashed through the roof and immediately burst into flames setting the house on fire.  The occupants of the home fled to safety without injury, but the two men perished in the flames.
