Biddeford, Maine – March 10, 1948
On March 9, 1948, a 34-year-old man from Massachusetts arrived in Biddeford in a rented airplane to visit his brother. The following day, at Biddeford Airport, the pilot was soloing over the airport while his brother watched from the ground. At one point the aircraft was seen to go into a spin from an altitude of about 800 feet. The aircraft pulled out of the spin, and then went into another, from which it did not recover, and crashed. The pilot suffered serious injuries.
