Barnstable, Massachusetts – June 28, 1934

On June 29, 1934, a 38-year-old man from Newtonville, Mass.,  was piloting an airplane from Boston to Barnstable Airport.  Also aboard were two male passengers. Upon reaching the Barnstable area the flight encountered thick fog conditions which obscured the ground.  Local residents said they heard the plane circling as the pilot tried to find the airport, and then a loud crash.  The plane went down in a wooded area.  One man was killed instantly, the other two were transported to Cape Cod Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
