Attleboro, Massachusetts – November 4, 1946

On November 4, 1946, a lone 23-year-old pilot was flying an Aeronca training airplane over the Attleboro area when the engine suddenly failed.  He attempted to make an emergency landing at Hayward Field, but due to strong winds the plane struck the roof of the baseball grandstands before crashing onto the playing field where it came to rest.  There was no fire.

The pilot was transported Sturdy Memorial Hospital where he was treated for briuses and lacerations.
