Atlantic Ocean – January 29, 1947
On January 29, 1947, Ensign E. B. Justice was taking part in a training exercise which involved making practice landings on the deck of the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Leyte which was off the Rhode Island coast. He was a member of Squadron 7A based at the Quonset Point Naval Air Station. As he was participating in the training exercise his aircraft crashed into the ocean and he was killed. According to the newspaper account his body was not recovered.
It is unknown as of this writing what the initials “E.B.” stood for, and the particulars on the type of aircraft he was flying are also unknown.
