Aroostook Junction, ME. – October 10, 1937

Aroostook Junction, Maine – October 10, 1937

On October 10, 1937, two young men were flying a new airplane with only 160 flying hours on it about 50 feet over the tree tops of Aroostook Junction.  According to witnesses, the aircraft flew low over the town several times before it went between two houses and crashed into a third.  The impact tore the left wing away, and the fuselage continued onward where it came to rest in the street.  Both men were seriously injured and the plane was a total loss.  (The type of plane wasn’t mentioned in the news article.)
