Dighton, Massachusetts – September 22, 1946
A 3:30 p.m. on the afternoon of September 22, 1946, a small two-seat airplane took off from King Airfield in Dighton, and crashed shortly after becoming airborne. There were two men aboard; a 35-year-old pilot who’d just received his pilot’s license a week earlier, and a 21-year-old recently discharged army veteran. The plane came down in a private garden about 25 feet off Main Street. Both men were transported to a hospital via ambulance but succumbed to their injuries.
