Searsport, Maine – July 2, 1967
On July 2, 1967, a Republic RC-3 Seabee (Reg. No. N6475K) with five people abord crashed in the water off Searsport, Maine, killing all aboard. The cloud ceiling at the time was 200 feet, with 1/4 mile or less visibility.
The plane came down about 500 feet from shore and broke in half and sank in 35 feet of water. The fuselage was retrieved by the Coast Guard.
